The upcoming cattle drive is located at Mormon Lake, near Flagstaff. Mormon Lake has cabin rentals available, showers,  a little store, RV hookups, campsites, and a cute little steak house.  Our Cattle Drives run approximatly 4 hours beginning at 9:30 am on Saturday morning. Saturday evening we will offer roping instruction, campfire stories and s'mores. Day two kicks off at 9:30 am as well. Day 2 will be a guided trail ride in the forest around Mormon Lake. We will be working with Cattle both days and this year will be differnent from last year in the fact that we have over 120 head of cattle to push out and graze so it will be a whole new adventure!  Trail riding in this area is unbeatable, and there is plenty for the entire family to do around town! The Saturday and Sunday cattle drives are $300 for both days. If you would like to come one day early Bobby Dunn and Christina Carl will be offering a half day horsemanship/ Cow working clinic in the arena for $75 extra.  In these clinics we work on better control of your horse.  We work on shoulder control, side-passing, getting the horse softer in the bridle, stopping, neck reining, rollbacks, canter leads and better balance.  We have lots of excercises to help improve your horsemanship.  This will also get your horse used to cows if you have never worked cattle before.  We have horses available for lease for these drives and clinics.  Christina will be offering a clinic on Thursday as well for $50 working on better control of your horse.  She can help you with saddle and bridle fit, head tossing, ground manners, spookiness,  trailer loading, and whatever other problems you may be experiencing with your horse.

Cattle Drive Full Payment for 28&29 $300:

Horsemanship Clinic Thursday $50, Friday Cow clinic with Bobby Dunn and Christina Carl $75.  If you rent a horse for the cattle drive you can use it in the horsemanship clinic and cow clinic on Thurs and Fri at no extra charge.  Cattle drive and both Clinics $425 total!

Cow Clinics are offered at Dunn's Arena as well. They are $45 for 2 plus hours of instruction.  We will help you work on issues that you are having with your horse and teach you proper techniques for working with cattle.  You will learn how to work cattle for team penning and team sorting purposes as well.  These clinics are great for helping riders to become one with their horses.  Your horse will become more confident and will love chasing the cattle, and you will forget all of your worries.  We can ride your horse for you and tune them up if they need that, or we can coach you and help teach you excercises that will improve your relationship with your horse.

If you are interested in hosting any of these events, please contact Christina at 623-628-7663.  We can bring cattle to your facility and do clinics or put on team pennings and sortings at your location.  We can even bring extra horses for people to use.

Here is what people say about our clinics:

"I had a wonderful time on Sunday!  Truly I didn't know what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised.  I really liked your and Bobby's style of horsemanship.  Horse people can be VERY different in their approach to horse care/riding I was very impressed with how healthy and well trained your horses are."

I only had the one day, I got  ground instruction from Bobby Dunn on how to 'read' cattle, then how to transfer this to your horse! It was pretty dang  fun really, (even the Bovine Aerobics part!) but getting coached/immediate feedback is priceless! I couldnt believe how quick Shiloh starting 'tracking' a cow! Bobby said hes real cowy & handy too. He rode him a little as well...AND everybody got to ride his horse Sorrely who is awesome!!!!!!! He will spin on a dime and give you change (MUCH faster than I wanted to spin). I got ALOT of great coaching, and the grand finale was driving the cattle thru the woods! This is SO much fun, and SO worth doing!!  Did I mention the smores at the campfire on Sat nite?? The laughter, camaraderie & the beer was just great! I think everyone had a great time, and will definitly do this again! GREAT JOB Christina and Bobby!!!!!

What You will learn in a cow clinic:

Whether you are completely new to horses, or a very advanced rider you will take away a lot from this clinic.  No riding experience is necessary to participate because following a cow will teach you how to ride.  It is a great way to improve your balance and learn how to control a horse.   If you don't have your own horse, we will provide you with one that is appropriate for your riding level.

What you will learn:
1. First, you learn how to work cattle on foot--we call this bovine areobics!  You will learn where you need to be to control the cow without having to worry about controlling your horse.

2. Now that you know where you need to be in relation to the cow, you will learn how to get your horse there and will do several excercises just learning how to follow the cow and how to get your horse to focus on it.  This is very fun because after a little while, your horse and you will be tuned into the cow and all you have to do is sit there.  Riding becomes effortless and you really become one with your horse because you are working as a team to follow the cow.

3. Next, you will learn some exercises without the cow on how to better control your horse and get your horse steering and stopping better and responding  better to your cues.  You will learn how to control the horse's shoulders and move the horse's hind end using your hands and your seat.

 4. Now the real fun begins! You start to do excercises at the trot and canter moving the cow up and down the fence, separating them, ect.

5. Part of each clinic will be working one on one or in small groups on horsemanship in another arena.  We will work with each person and their horse individually and do a little tune-up on your horse if that is what is needed.  We can work on making the horse softer in the bit, ground manners, better stops and turns, spookiness, and whatever other issues you are having with your horse.
